The 2 ideal towns of Ston and Mali Ston sit in between the mainland and the peninsula Peljesac. With Dubrovnik, the 2 towns were the most important in the old Republic of Dubrovnik. The mighty walls defended its salt pans and the rich farming grounds of the Republic of Dubrovnik. The walls are fortified and are 5km long, which makes them the longest in Europe and second to just the Great Wall of China. The bay of Mali Ston is located between the peninsula Peljesac and the main land and is a natural reserve and oyster, mussel and fish cultivation area.
Peninsula Peljesac has geographic and natural elements that are making it very similar to the Dalmatian islands that surround it like Hvar, Mljet and Island Korcula. It features many excellent wedding venues easily reachable by one hour drive from Dubrovnik which makes wedding planning and organisation process smooth.
On Pelješac you can find wonderful stone villages, untouched by modern times. Coastal hamlets are backed by steep slopes, their shores fringed by pine. Pelješac is famous for pristine shingle beaches, and on the southern side a bracing wind makes this a favourite spot for windsurfers, especially at Viganj. Orebić is the largest resort, its architecture reflecting its links with the Republic of Dubrovnik, and has fantastic stretches of shingle to the east of town. Ask for wedding event suggestions that may include excellent wine tours.
Our recomendation for those that have never visited Peljesac would be to be our guests here during the wedding planning process in order to get to know this great places personally.
